CPYou Computer Solutions......It all began with a need.....

April of 1999, I had finished training as a programmer. I was visiting my family and my brother asked me if I could look at his three thousand dollar paper-weight
The 486 DX33 with 4 MB RAM was running Windows 3.1. My brother also needed a monitor.
As I priced out upgrading the 30 pin RAM in the machine I came across Version 1.0 of Lotus 123 and the earliest version of Paradox.
With these in hand, I decided no upgrade was necessary to get the machine to do what he wanted. All he wanted was a machine he could keep a simple inventory of houses he owned on. He didn't need a new machine, he just needed some analyzing of what he had and how it could be modified for his needs. Two years later the machine is still serving it's purpose and a game of Solitaire every now and then keeps it young.
Later that summer I gathered some 486's up. Custom loaded Windows 95 into one and DOS/Win 3.1 in the other. I needed them tested in the "real world". I approached my oldest brother.
His "I have no need for a computer" attitude was strong. I gave him a machine at no cost to test and use. One week later he wanted to see what else I had a little faster. Last week he started talking internet connections..............He now enjoys a computer in his house as do his kids. Had he had to go out and spend a thousand dollars to get his first computer he still wouldn't know what they could do for him. He now has a decent system that does everything he needs it to do + plays music and cost under four hundred dollars. That includes the printer, surge protector, mouse pad, all cables, monitor and training.......These were the first two clients of CPYou Computer Solutions.

  How does the thinking work?
First: for the right price, everyone could find use for a computer.
Second: not everyone needs the fastest & newest model available
Third: just because a faster model is released, I don't need it if the one I have is working fine and does everything I need for it to do
Fourth: people aren't scared of computers, they're scared of not knowing what to do with them.
I have certain questions I ask when I help someone purchase a computer (YES, people do hire me as a consultant just to buy a computer or look over one they are thinking of buying). It is these questions and their answers that can save you a lot of $$$$ and make it worth hiring a consultant to help.

Look at it this way....I go to the store and look at the parking lot. Not all the cars are this year's model. Actually very few are the new, sleeker faster model released this year.
Computer shopping is much like car shopping. Know what you need. Know what you can afford. Find someone to teach you to drive it you trust (if you don't know how to drive it properly).
Once you have had it for a while, you usually find a good mechanic to care for your car. You get regular oil changes and tune ups to keep it running the best it can. You need a good mechanic you can trust and who'll explain what he's doing, for your computer also.
I like to save people money, and get them the machine they need within their budget, not the salesperson's budget.

Founded out of a need in April, 1999 in Saskatchewan, Canada, CPYou Computer Solutions is dedicated to helping everyone locate the software, hardware, repairs or training they desire.
Too many times we witnessed a computer salesperson pushing high priced systems on people who merely wanted to write school reports and play a game of Solitaire.
We said NO MORE!
